Project Summary
We were contracted by Shea Properties to maintain the high-traffic exterior wood seating and decking at the Mendocino Farms restaurant in Carlsbad. The space features a stylish recessed seating area surrounding a modern fire feature, integrated into a hardscape setting. Over time, the tropical hardwood had faded and dulled due to sun exposure, foot traffic, and weather. Our goal was to restore the natural richness of the wood, enhance its longevity, and maintain the upscale aesthetic that matches the Mendocino Farms brand.
What We Did
The project included a sunken seating area and surrounding hardwood decking that serves as a focal point for diners and guests. We began with a thorough surface cleaning to remove dirt, stains, and aged sealants. Once the wood was properly prepped and dry, we applied DeckWise Ipe Oil, a premium oil-based hardwood finish formulated for exotic wood species like Ipe, Cumaru, and Tigerwood.
