Project Summary

For this project, we had the pleasure of restoring a full collection of outdoor teak furniture at a beachfront property in the Mission Beach neighborhood of San Diego. Our client, Carlos Becerra, wanted to preserve the clean, modern look of his deck furniture while enhancing its warmth and ensuring it could withstand the oceanfront elements. From loungers and bar stools to an expansive dining set, each piece of teak had begun to fade from sun exposure and salt air. Our goal was to restore its original vibrancy and protect it long-term.

What We Did

We started with a deep cleaning process to remove all traces of buildup, oxidation, and natural graying from the teak surfaces. The salty sea air had begun to dull the wood’s natural tone, so preparing a clean canvas was essential. Once the furniture was fully dry, we applied Semco Teak Sealer in Warm Honey — a premium sealer that enhances the wood’s golden hue while providing durable protection from UV rays, moisture, and mildew. This finish is especially well-suited for homes near the ocean, as it balances a rich appearance with long-lasting resilience.

Our work included refinishing:

  • Multiple low-slung teak loungers near the sliding doors
  • A full-size dining table with matching chairs under a large umbrella
  • Custom wood frames and loungers that had been stored in the garage

Each item was hand-finished to ensure an even, natural tone and a smooth surface ready for use.
