Part two of a series on concrete cleaning focuses on how to clean concrete.
How Do I Clean My Concrete?
A lot of people want to know “how do I clean my concrete?” First off, understand that concrete is porous. Also understand that it is a very tough and hard material. Unlike when you clean your teak, you don’t have to worry about scrubbing too hard when you clean your concrete. Like teak cleaning, you can use a high pressure hose and detergent to clean it.
Teak cleaning and concrete cleaning also share a lot of other similarities as well. For one thing, after you get concrete cleaning done, you want to seal it as well.
Why You Need Concrete Sealing
As to why you need concrete sealing, concrete sealing is the final stage in the process. After you have cleaned your concrete, sealing helps to keep out dirt and stains that unfortunately concrete is vulnerable to. Remember, as we said above, concrete is porous. Take a look at the floor of a garage for example. One time, that concrete was a grayish white. Now, well, it is most likely the color of a pack of Dalmatians.
Concrete sealer is a great way to stop stains before they start. What is concrete sealer made of? Unlike teak sealer, which is usually polyurethane, concrete sealer is usually made of clear siloxane or silane. These chemicals are water repellant, and easy to apply. If you want to do this yourself, apply concrete with a roller brush, or by using a paint sprayer. When in doubt, call in a concrete cleaning service to do it for you.
This concludes part two of our series on concrete cleaning. Be sure to read part one and part three as well.
